The Dead Painting Series was the catalyst series that begun my work with conceptual topics revolving around the Art World itself. The works, painted in fleshy tones “suffer” from bruises, scraps, and other “injuries.” They mock the long over used term that “painting is dead.” This series reflects my opinion that painting is not dead, rather in a state of healing from the injuries it’s sustained from this rhetoric.
Ironically, many of the works from this series have suffered further by my “killing” them by removing them from their stretchers and re-purposing them into newer works.
