A Solo Installation of large works from the “Crafty Collusion” series will be hung in the lobby at the One Five One (4 Times Square - former Conde Nast building) in Manhattan.
In a world that wants quick sound bites, these works are complicated. They are simultaneously painting and sculpture, craft and fine art and they even appear both soft and sharp at the same time.
Text and bar codes sneak out from under layers of paint from the re-purposing of craft beer cans throughout the work. Commenting on consumer choice and how in one rather male dominated industry the term “craft” is used to elevate a product and in another used to devalue it. Together with traditional materials like canvas and acrylic paint, they collude to create the “it’s complicated” relationship status of artworks, defying traditional labels.
